There’s a film out at the moment called The Martian.
It’s an absolutely brilliant film, filled with humour, suspense and a lot of Matt Damon.
If you haven’t seen it yet you should, and beware, this email may contain some spoilers.
It’s about an astronaut who gets caught in a storm on Mars while with his crew
They presume him to be dead and evacuate Mars in a hurry before it’s too late.
But the thing is he’s not dead and is stuck on Mars
where there’s no food or water apart from the limited rations
and it would take 4 years to get anyone there to rescue him!
They try to send supplies but fail
But in the mean time he has figured out a way to grow potatoes in the Martian soil
and create water by combining Hydrogen and Oxygen.
Unfortunately it all gets blown up and so he needs to figure out a way to get off Mars before he starves to death.
Every time he solves a problem another one comes along which he has to solve to stay alive.
Anyway eventually they figure out a dangerous plan where they are still VERY likely to die
So it all comes down to this…
For it all to work everything needs to all come together at the same time;
Perfect distances, perfect weights, perfect speeds and angles etc.
It is summed up nicely by Matt Damon at the end when he says this;
“At some point, everything’s going to go South on you.
You’re going to say, ‘This is it. This is how I end.’
Now you can either accept that, or you can get to work.
You have to solve one problem, and then solve the next problem,
and then solve the next problem, and if you solve enough problems,
you get to go home.”
And this is exactly the same when it comes to resolving your health and injury problems.
Things are going to go wrong.
You’re going to get ill or injured
and you can either accept it or solve it.
More often than not, the simple solutions are the most effective
Especially in diet and fitness;
Insane exercise plans with crazy exercises look like fun but will have you in burnout mode in no time!
And as for these stupid diets, well, don’t even bother!
Choose the most effective exercises and the most nutritious food and stick to it and you can’t go wrong!
