No osteopathic treatment will not hurt. Sometimes some of the osteopathic massage techniques we use can be quite tender as we press into specific trigger points. However, you should never be in a level of pain that you can’t cope and you are advised to tell your osteopath if it is too much.
The osteopathic techniques themselves are actually quite gentle and include joint mobilisations (moving the joints around), joint manipulations (clicking the joints) and joint stretching.
Please bear in mind that ALL the treatment you receive is performed with your consent, so if at any time you don’t want a certain teqhnique done to you, it causes you pain or it makes you feel uncomfortable then please do tell your osteopath to stop. There are plenty of alternative technique options available to you.
