The Future Of Healthcare
Functional Medicine is without a doubt the future of health care for chronic health problems.
How many people do you know who want answers to their health problems but just can’t get them from their Doctor? Are you one of those people?
How many times have you gone to your G.P. trying to find out why you don’t feel good anymore and been told there’s nothing wrong with you? Maybe you have even been for tests and yet still told there’s nothing wrong with you?
Well this is unfortunately where the medical system is failing you.
It is truly amazing when it comes to emergency health care, it’s just not designed to deal with chronic health problems.
G.P.’s just don’t have the time allowance to sit with their patients for long enough to firstly take a thorough case history followed by comprehensive testing, and secondly to educate their patients well enough to allow them to go away knowing what to do.
So What Is Functional Medicine and How Is It Different?
Functional medicine is a system of healthcare that aims to find out the cause of your problems. Your functional medicine practitioner will likely spend hours working on your case trying to dig deep into your history and test reports to work out what is going on, rather than the conventional five minutes you get with your GP.
Functional medicine practitioners have an extensive knowledge of the human body and the way it works; from the digestive system through to the hormonal and neurological systems.
The main difference between conventional medicine and functional medicine is that conventional medicine will try to suppress your symptoms through medication, whereas functional medicine will try to work out why you have those symptoms and treat what is causing those symptoms.
Functional medicine only uses scientifically backed approaches to treatment, which means that you will not be putting your faith in something that could do nothing or even potentially harm you.
What Can Functional Medicine Treat?
Unfortunately due to advertising standards we cannot name conditions and say we can treat that condition. However the most common conditions that we see in clinical practice and that functional medicine has good results with are conditions such as;
- Digestive Problems
- Thyroid Issues
- Cholesterol Concerns
- Lack of Energy
- Heavy Metal Toxicity
- Adrenal Fatigue
- Type 2 Diabetes

It doesn’t really matter what the problem you have is or the symptoms that go with it, it is about getting to the root cause of your problem.
